Film buffs will savour the inaugural exhibitions at the new movie museum mecca destined to launch in Los Angeles this winter. The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will open to the public on 14 December, giving movie devotees something to look forward post-pandemic. The exhibition experience of the Academy Museum will begin in the Grand Lobby of the Saban Building with the Spielberg Family Gallery, which will be free to enter. “This soaring, glass-walled gallery will serve as an introduction to the museums exhibitions by surrounding visitors with multiple screens featuring a rapid immersion into the history of cinema, from the Lumière brothers to present day,” a statement says. The permanent Stories of Cinema display will include galleries developed in collaboration with Academy Award-winning writer-directors Spike Lee and Pedro Almodóvar, composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, and the sound designer Ben Burtt.
