She’s a Coronation Street legend so when Metro.co.uk had the opportunity to sit down for a chat with Sue Nicholls, who plays salon queen Audrey Roberts, we snapped it up – and the down to earth icon told us that she never takes her role for granted.
Admitting that her alter ego could be dropped at any time, it’s clear that she is still in love with the job as much as ever – and shows no signs of voluntarily giving up Audrey’s cutting scissors any time soon.
As she marvelled at the opening of the new Coronation Street set, which she cut the ribbon for to officially launch, she is looking to the future along with the rest of the Platt family – for who she has nothing but high praise.
Meanwhile, she spoke fondly of the memorial garden which had been unveiled in memory of the 22 victims of the Manchester arena attack, including Corrie superfan Martyn Hett who created the memorable Audrey Roberts noise video.
Our interview was packed with fun and laughter – and even an offer to cut the hair of Metro.co.uk’s soaps editor. See you there for my much need trim, Auds!
