We’ve got a long way to go before we get to Captain Marvel in terms of MCU releases.
Not only do we have Avengers: Infinity War to get hyped up about, but there’s also Ant-Man And The Wasp to come.
However, that’s not to say that we’re not getting pumped about Captain Marvel’s arrival next spring, and while little is known for definite about the plot for Brie Larson’s MCU standalone debut, it seems that Samuel L Jackson may have let the cat out of the bag this weekend.
Taking to his Instagram earlier on today, the 69-year-old actor shared some BTS snaps from the make-up trailer, and while this wouldn’t usually be important, it just so happened that he looked to be getting a mask mould made.
Again, what’s so interesting about that?
Well, given that we know Nick Fury has some experience with the weird and wacky before he’d even heard of the likes of Iron Man, Loki and the Tesseract, and that we also know that Captain Marvel will face off against the Skrulls, it’s pretty interesting.
For those not au fait with how the Skrulls work, they usually go around conquering planets by secretly secreting operatives into the echelons of society so that they can destabilise a planet, making it easy for them to walk in and plant their flag in the ground.
This leads us to believe at this point that the team behind the film will be using a storyline similar to the Marvel comics Secret Invasion arc, which sees Earth invaded by the aliens ahead of a massive attack.
Add in that and the fact that Samuel getting his head moulded for what’s more than likely a mask and you have the possibility that Nick Fury is a Skrull agent, or more likely he’s been kidnapped and an agent has replaced/attempted to replace him.
‘Mr. Stark, you’ve become part of a bigger universe, you just don’t know it yet.’
