It seems Wakanda has the Avengers’ back as a new still from Avengers: Infinity War was released, ahead of its theatrical unveiling next month.
And it’s pretty mighty.
The still shows Captain America (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) standing alongside Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Okoye with the Dora Milaje and the Wakandan army hanging out behind, all strong, and stealth and ‘I’ve got your back’-like.
How epic is that!
On the back of the raging success of Black Panther – still, weeks after its release, might we add – it’s a great move to see Disney bringing these two fandoms together to create some sort of super fandom to challenge the status quo.
Can we also please note the impressive bushy beard Captain America is sporting?
Anyway, this teaming up makes sense, as Infinity War takes place not too long after the events of Black Panther, as the superheroes battle villain Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) on Earth, for a change, (it’s said a battle will take place in the fictional country of Wakanda) as they attempt to stop him nicking all the Infinity Stones for his Infinity Gauntlet.
Say infinity again.
This might be an epic photo to tease us, but know there is plenty more epicness where it came from, as more characters from the MCU in the flick include *inhales* Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Groot (Vin Diesel), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) *exhales*.
Josh Brolin’s got one hell of a fight ahead of him.
It comes as Black Panther continues to go from strength to strength.
At the end of February it smashed through another milestone after it already recorded the biggest Monday at the box office of all time (in the US), earning $40.2 million.
That gross, combined with the film’s $201.8 million three-day earnings over the weekend, gives the film a four-day total of $242 million (£172 million), reports comicbook.com.
Aside from being a nice little payday for Disney and Marvel the four-day total is the second-highest of all time, coming in just behind of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which earned $288 million (£205 million) in 2015.
That means that Black Panther’s total surpasses that of Marvel’s The Avengers ($226.3 million/£161 million), Jurassic World ($234 million/£167 million), and Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($241.6 million/£172 million).
Not bad, not bad at all.
Avengers: Infinity War is in cinemas April 27.
