Now that Fiz Brown is back in Coronation Street and straight into dramatic scenes which see her discover that Tyrone Dobbs has slept with Gemma Winter, it seems like a lifetime ago that we were watching Jennie McAlpine in the I’m A Celebrity jungle.

The red-head star finished fourth in the reality competition after proving very popular and it is an experience that she will never regret. And it was a pleasure for her to give an insight into what she is like in real life, rather than constantly portraying Fiz.

She told ‘Some kids now stop me to have a selfie with Jennie from the jungle while their mums want a selfie with Fiz. The kids have no idea who Fiz is. You’re not meant to be a Corrie fan when you’re 6 are you – although lots are!’

Revealing that she had no issue with the trials, Jennie went on: ‘That was never really the stuff I was scared of. I knew that being away from my little boy would be the hardest thing and it was. My other fear was not knowing who you were going to be in the jungle with but actually it was so harmonious except for a few silly arguments about strawberries. Overall, considering how hungry everyone was, it was peaceful.’

Reflecting on the moment that she was reunited with her son Albert, she smiled: ‘Oh my god, it was just incredible. I knew that he would be having an amazing time but it’s so hard to tell yourself that. He was on an incredible holiday with his daddy so when I came out and he told me all about it – he was introducing me to everyone like Dennis Wise’s kids – he’d been having the time of his life. And everyone told me how lovely and entertaining Albert had been.’

But even though she had a positive experience on I’m A Celebrity, Jennie is in no hurry to follow in the footsteps of Dancing On Ice Corrie competitors Brooke Vincent and Antony Cotton.

She physically recoiled, exclaiming: ‘Oh God, no – ice skating, no. I had the easy job for three weeks in that jungle. Ice skating looks impossible! And The Jump just looks insane – ridiculous!

‘Any of those things, absolutely not! Considering I am the most clumsy person, I’m amazed that I even managed to walk that plank – I did say to them afterwards “you do know I’m not very good at…walking?”’
