Mohit Marwah is an Indian actor and the nephew of the late Bollywood superstar Sridevi.
His father is Sandeep Marwah, founder of Indian production company Noida Film City, and his mother is Reena Marwah, whose brother is Boney Kapoor, Sridevi’s film producer husband.
Born in New Delhi in August 1984, the 33-year-old performer made his big screen debut in Fugly in 2014, the same year he was voted as one of the best-dressed men by GQ India.
Mohit has also appeared in the TV show RaagDesh in 2017 and has lent his acting talents to a few short films.
On February 22 he wed his long-term girlfriend Antra Motiwala in Dubai, and Sridevi was one of the guests.
Photos and video from the mehendi ceremony, held in Al Ras Khaimah, were uploaded to social media.
Fans went into mourning and family members who had left the UAE rushed back to the country.
Sridevi’s brother Sanjay Kapoor wrote online: “Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai.
“It happened roughly around 11.00-11.30. I don’t know more details yet.”
Meanwhile Mohit posted an Instagram tribute to his aunt, the star of over 100 movies including Mr India, English Vinglish and Sadma.
Alongside a picture of the talented actress, he wrote: “You were more than a legend. Your vacuum will always be felt.”
Sridevi is survived by her husband Boney, 62, and their two daughters Jhanvi, 20, and Khushi, 17.
