Ella Henderson has been dropped by Syco over delays on her second album.
The singer is said to be gearing up for a comeback this year, but it looks like she’ll do so without her label backing her as Syco has decided to opt for a ‘change in direction’ and to cut her loose.
The 22-year-old shot to fame on the X Factor six years ago during the same run as James Arthur, but with long delays on her album the label has decided to axe the starlet.
Ella released her debut album four years ago and it shot to number one, but since then work on her second album has been ‘stop-start’ which allegedly led to the label’s decision.
The source told the Sun: ‘Her second album has been pushed back again and again but it just isn’t up to scratch.’
It’s said that other artists are now afraid for their contracts as the label is thought to be planning on a ‘spring clean’ with everyone on their books being assessed.
Last year Fleur East was also dropped by the label following three years with them.
‘Fleur had some great times with Syco but it was felt by both sides now was the time to go down different paths. She will always remain a friend of the label – because everyone’s really fond of her,’ a source close to the label told Mail Online.
Niall Horan also opted to go a differnet way, choosing to quit Syco i nthe hopes of a ‘fresh start’.
Niall said: ‘We were very close to Simon for years and had a lot of success together. ‘I just felt like I wanted and needed a fresh start.’
