We just don’t know where we are with the scheduling of EastEnders this week. 8pm on a Monday and Friday is set aside in all of our lives to get the latest Walford escapism but for the second time this week, the BBC are betraying us loyal soap fans by shifting our beloved programme out of its regular slot.
Tonight, a France v Italy Rugby Union match replaces EastEnders so anyone sitting down with their Friday night takeaway, a glass of Blossom Hill red and an expectation to see Danny Dyer on their screen is in for a disappointment.
However, before we all riot, it’s important to recall that we have actually had our two hour fix of EastEnders this week – if we were able to find it in the schedules that is. With a Wednesday episode and an hour long Thursday edition, we haven’t actually lost out on any screentime.
Next week, things return to normality – and we can look forward to big dramas such as Aidan Maguire stepping up his campaign of revenge against Mick and Linda Carter while Martin Fowler comes undone thanks to scheming stranger Hayley.
In the meantime, enjoy your Friday night off – the weekend starts here!
EastEnders continues on Monday 26th February at 8pm on BBC One.
