Mick Carter is forced to adopt a stance of tough live against Max Branning as the grieving dad spirals out of control again in EastEnders. When Lauren lies to her dad that Abi’s funeral has already happened without him in order to stop him attending, he is crushed when he discovers the truth.
He learns that the family don’t want him there – and that Tanya will refuse to attend if he is present. Because of the fact that Abi was only on the roof to talk Max down, most of the family blame Max for her death.
Torn over what to do, a broken Max hits the bottle and Jay Mitchell tries to reach out to him without much luck. But things get serious when a drunk Max tries to climb into his car, leading to Mick grabbing his keys and chucking them away before aggressively pinning Max against the vehicle.
As Mick delivers some home truths to Max about his behaviour and why he doesn’t deserve a place at Abi’s funeral, will the harsh words hit home or will they just make everything worse as Max hits rock bottom?
And when the day of the funeral dawns, will Max be present among the mourners or will he respect Lauren and Tanya’s wishes and stay well away?
EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday 13th February at 7:30pm on BBC One.
