EastEnders could be lining up some actual happiness for long suffering Louise Mitchell as she is delighted to see Hunter Owen when he arrives in the Square – and it’s clear that the pair get on well as they hug and do some catching up. Could there be romance on the horizon?
Louise knows Hunter as when she lived with her mum, Lisa Fowler, they spent a lot of time with Mel, who is Hunter’s mum. It’s clear that, given their similar ages, they became firm friends but as this is soap, is it only a matter of time before the pair develop their relationship further?
Louise has had a nightmare of a year, having been involved in a bus crash, being tormented by bullies Alexandra and Madison, almost dying from alcohol poisoning and being scarred in a burning incident at prom. As she recovered, she was then kidnapped by her unstable mum Lisa before she then feared the loss of her dad Phil in a gas explosion. Before all of that, she was also traumatised by her dad’s battle with alcohol, which almost led to his death from cirrhosis of the liver.
So not much to smile about, really! Louise had a romance with Travis which fizzled out and her only other contact with a love interest was destructive as Keegan Baker spread rumours that they had slept together when they hadn’t.
Could Hunter be the one to change Louise’s view of romance and make her smile again? She is certainly glad of the company and they catch up in the cafe. But Hunter is about to face big troubles as not long after he is reunited with Mel, he starts to discover some long buried secrets about his late dad Steve.
As angry Hunter lashes out at his mum and then goes off in search of answers about what kind of man Steve was, she finds him looking sombre at his nan’s grave. Can Mel talk him round and explain why she wasn’t honest?
And will the pair decide to stay on in Walford?
