The moment that many Coronation Street fans have been crying out for for months is coming, according to show boss Kate Oates – as sinister Pat Phelan is about to meet his end, with Eileen discovering the shocking truth about his evil deeds. And it sounds like there could be a fatal climax in store for the killer as a series of action packed stunt scenes will bring about the story’s close.
Phelan continues to get away with murder in the show but that’s all set to change as his daughter Nicola Rubinstein continues to work with Gary Windass to unmask the man who caused the deaths of Andy Carver, Luke Britton and Vinny Ashford.
This will lead to Eileen finally discovering the shocking truth about the man she married – leading to a showdown that will kick off some final, electrifying twists. While we can’t reveal exactly what’s in store so as not to ruin the outcome for fans, we can promise that the episodes will deliver an unforgettable climax to the saga.
Speaking about what’s ahead, Kate told Radio Times: ‘2018 is going to see the demise of Phelan. Connor is so up for this challenge. He’s so excited about it and he’s playing it brilliantly.
‘What I like about Phelan’s downfall is that it’s very much to do with Eileen. It’s to do with her realising who she’s married. It’s to do with Nicola and that child. Promising some highly dramatic action scenes. There’ll be a few twists and turns – we have some stunts coming up, which will be exciting.’
Justice is coming, Mr Phelan!
