Step aside Dot Branning – the launderette is set to have a new queen in town as it re-opens! In the wake of James Willmott-Brown’s takeover crashing and burning, the former business opens up again with Mr Popadopoulos Jnr heading it up.
And while most fans would inevitably want to see Dot back where she belongs, it’s actually Karen who chucks her hat into the ring. But when she comes up against another candidate, which of the pair will end up taking over the duties of airing all of the locals’ dirty laundry? On that basis, it sounds like Karen may have it in the bag!
Karen initially offends the launderette’s owner but somehow manages to wangle herself an interview. She turns on the charm to undo the damage of her precious outburst – but when her past is raised, she begs for a chance but it doesn’t seem like she is going to get it.
Karen is optimistic and tells her clan she has it in the bag but when she later sees that the job is still being advertised and more interviews are going ahead, she is crestfallen.
Taking matters into her own hands, she goes to war with her rival as she realises that they are the favourite for the job. As they bicker and compete for the role, the manager can’t take much more so offers them both a trial for the position.
But who will come out on top?
