There’s big trouble on the horizon for Kate Connor and Rana Nazir’s secret relationship in Coronation Street as an in turmoil Kate decides that she needs to get away from it all – and heads out of Weatherfield, leaving Rana gutted.

With Rana still unable to break the news to Zeedan that they are over, Kate is unable to carry on in secret and they both feel bad about betraying Zeedan. The waters are further muddied when Kate shares a kiss with Sophie Webster, something which leaves Rana feeling crushed.

The kiss happens after Sophie and Kate return from a night out and Sophie is thrilled, having long held a torch for her. When Rosie Webster lets slip to Rana about the smooch, she is gutted and Kate’s head is left all over the place.

When Kate then announces that she is leaving the Street, Rana begs her to stay but Sophie interrupts their conversation. As Kate confirms that she is heading to Devon for some time to think and get her head together, both Rana and Sophie are upset, wondering when they are going to see her again.

In the wake of this, Sophie admits to Rana how much she likes Kate and Rana responds by trying to put her off, insisting that Kate would never be interested. But will she end up giving herself away in the process?

And is this truly the end of the road for Rana and Kate? Or will Kate’s departure just make Rana all the more determined to fight for her?
