When Lauren and Abi Branning fell from that Queen Vic roof on Christmas Day, it looked like a pretty open and shut exit for the pair – but the girls continue to hang onto their lives in EastEnders as Boxing Day’s episode confirmed that they aren’t dead. However, as a difficult day closed, Max and Tanya prepared for the worst as a doctor approached with some bad news about one of their daughters.
As Max and Tanya looked on at horror at their girls’ lifeless bodies following the terrible chain of events, they were convinced that this was it – and so were viewers who took the fact that Jacqueline Jossa and Lorna Fitzgerald were leaving the show as confirmation that they were brown bread.
Lauren and Abi remain in a critical condition in the hospital and pregnant Abi faces further tragedy as doctors fight to save both her life and that of her very premature and unborn baby. Max and Tanya face an anxious wait to find out if their beloved daughters and the baby will come through this. After Max was interrogated by police, he arrived at the hospital in time for doctors to approach saying that they urgently needed to speak to the shattered parents about their daughter – but which one are they referring to.
Blaming himself for the shocking accident, Max is overwhelmed by everything and is praying that Lauren and Abi will survive – and Tanya can’t bear to be near him.
Viewers will have to wait and see what comes next as lives hang in the balance – will Lauren and Abi make it through to 2018?
And, if they do survive, what form will their imminent departures take?
EastEnders continues on Thursday 28th December at 8pm on BBC One.
