There’s a final showdown ahead on Christmas Day for Max Branning and Phil Mitchell as an almighty clash explodes – and with Phil determined to finish off his nemesis while wielding a gun, it could have a tragic ending.

Viewers have been wondering if the end is nigh for Max. With his recent actions exposed and the character being left with nowhere to turn, he has stepped up his anger and rage against his enemies – and he is determining to have his day with both Ian Beale and Phil.

In the wake of almost killing Ian, Max ends up facing a stand off with Phil – and the Mitchell hardman has armed himself with the intention of finishing him off once and for all. A violent altercation follows as the men vent out their fury but will there be a death on the Square as things spiral out of control?

It remains to be seen how this face off goes down but there’s a lot at stake and show boss John Yorke has already confirmed that there will be a death over the festive season? Is this the end of the road for Max as he faces his final comeuppance for his deplorable actions?
